Every year the wellness world hands us a fresh batch of “this changes everything” trends — some legit, some straight-up nonsense, most somewhere in between. The Guardian just rounded up the biggest ones defining 2026, and I couldn’t resist breaking down a few of my favorites (and my most side-eyed).
AI as your coach. People are turning to chatbots for meal plans, workout routines, even relationship advice. It can help you get clearer on your goals — but it’s also confidently wrong sometimes, so treat it as a starting point, not gospel.
Proteinmaxxing. Protein powders, protein popcorn, protein everything. Part of this is the GLP-1 ripple effect — eating less means protecting the muscle you have matters more. But experts note there’s a ceiling: most adults only need about 0.8g per kg of body weight, and even serious lifters plateau around 1.6g/kg. More isn’t always more.
Parasite cleanses. Yes, this is a real thing people are doing because of their Instagram feed. No, herbal TikTok supplements don’t treat actual parasitic infections — that requires an actual diagnosis and actual medication.
Olive oil + lemon juice shots. Basically salad dressing, but as a shot glass ritual for “skin and digestion.” Olive oil does have real benefits (hello, healthy fats and polyphenols) — but you’re probably better off just eating the salad.
Functional foods. Chocolate for PMS, chips with added protein — foods promising a benefit beyond nutrition. Cute marketing, but the actual doses of active ingredients are usually way below what’s been clinically studied.
Hyrox. The new CrossFit for the type-A fitness crowd: eight 1km runs alternating with eight brutal strength stations. Not for the faint of heart.
There’s also a lot more in the original — divorce rings as a breakup ritual, the “burned haystack” dating method, vaginal wellness supplements, and “spermmaxxing” (yes, really).
Not everything trending is worth your time or money, but a few of these are genuinely worth understanding. Read the full breakdown from The Guardian here: The biggest wellness trends of 2026

I Backed This Mask on Kickstarter a Decade Ago. It Just Knocked My Six-Year-Old Out Over the Atlantic.
A few days ago, my son and I flew to London. He’s six, window seat, running a nonstop interrogation about clouds and turbulence — until just after 9pm, somewhere over the Atlantic, when he pulled on his sleep mask and leaned into my shoulder. He was out in minutes.
Erling Haaland: Why Even Rival Fans Fell in Love With Him at the World Cup
I need to start with a confession: I’ve been an Arsenal fan my entire life. And for years, that’s meant regarding Erling Haaland with something between grudging respect and low-grade irritation. He plays for Manchester City — one of our fiercest rivals — and he’s spent the last few seasons doing what he does best: making our defense look like traffic co…
