🛌 When Your Body Forces You to Slow Down
January knocked me sideways.
A cold turned into something worse. I ended up on antibiotics — necessary, but not gentle.
Antibiotics save lives. They also don’t discriminate. Along with harmful bacteria, they reduce beneficial gut microbes too. Research shows antibiotics significantly alter the gut microbiome, and that disruption can affect digestion, immunity, and even mood.
I felt it. The infection cleared, but my system felt off — unsettled, not quite itself.
It was a reminder: wellness isn’t just about removing what’s wrong. It’s about rebuilding what keeps you stable.
There’s solid evidence that certain probiotics can reduce the risk of antibiotic-associated diarrhea and support microbiome recovery during and after antibiotics. They’re not magic — but they are supportive.
So now, when antibiotics are necessary, I treat gut support as part of the protocol, not an afterthought.
Because February isn’t about optimization.
It’s about protection.

🧱 The 100 Energy Blocks Exercise (A Simple Energy Management Tool)
A friend and I had a conversation that stuck with me.
Imagine you wake up each day with 100 energy blocks.
That’s it.
Where are you allocating them?
Work
Relationships
Exercise
Mental health
Cooking
Scrolling
Worrying
Logistics
Most of us spend blocks unconsciously. By 3pm we’re bankrupt.
Sit down with a pen and actually assign them.
It’s confronting.
Some things deserve 30 blocks. Some deserve 5. Some deserve none — but somehow take 20.
This isn’t about productivity.
It’s about intentional distribution.
Guardrails aren’t restrictions.
They’re boundaries that protect your energy from being drained by default.
📱 Install a Digital Guardrail: How to Use iPhone Scheduled Summary
One small change that’s helped me recently: using the iPhone Scheduled Summary for notifications.
Instead of every app deciding when I get interrupted, I decide.
Non-urgent notifications get bundled and delivered at a time I choose.
It’s not dramatic. It’s subtle.
But it removes dozens of micro-interruptions a day.
Less friction.
Fewer energy leaks.
More stability.
How to turn it on (takes 60 seconds):
Go to Settings
Tap Notifications
Tap Scheduled Summary
Turn it on
Choose the apps you don’t need in real time
Pick 1–2 times per day to receive your summary
Start small. Social apps. Shopping apps. News alerts.
Guardrails don’t have to be extreme. They just have to exist.
